Jonathan Taft

Head Engineer

Jonathan is one of the more diverse engineers on staff. In 2002, he started making records at New Alliance Audio in the Boston Fenway location. During the 2006 relocation, Jon joined a crew of fellow engineers and musician volunteers to build the new Cambridge Central Square Studio.

He has worked with a wide array of popular musicians throughout the New England area. In the studio he has worked with local hero’s: The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band members of Morphine, Hey Now Morris Fader, The Tickle Bomb Orchestra, Grey Valley Ghost, Goddard, ZL, and more.

As a freelance live sound engineer he has run sound for many national touring acts: The Psychedelic Furs, Blue Oyster Cult, The Charlie Daniels Band, Mission of Burma, Orange Goblin, Ellis Paul, Fifth Dimension, etc.

Throughout the last several years Jon expanded his talents making great sounding location recordings for artist such as: Tom Morello the night watchman, Pete Yorne, Thought Criminals, Monique Ortiz, Childsplay, etc. Jon and a few other engineers just finished recording sound for the movie FAT, due out in 2013. He also records quite a bit of voiceover talents for audio books and presentations.

In October of 2011, Jon took over the role as Head Engineer after Ethan Dussault stepped down to pursue personal interests. Jonathan has always played a major role in repairs and maintenance at New Alliance Audio, which put has put him in a great position to address all the studio needs including reorganizing, streamlining and repairing many of the major components of the New Alliance Audio facility. Did I mention he also built this website, with some help from Corey Grant and Damian Adshead of course.
